Eindhoven, the Netherlands – At the awards ceremony in Shanghai on Friday November 4th, the jury of China’s Most Successful Design Awards honored Philips with nine awards for successful designs in the Chinese markets, including a Gold Award for the HD Camcorder CAM300.
“We see consumer needs are changing rapidly and offering localized products and solutions, relevant to people within their contexts, is becoming ever more important. To do this you need to have a full understanding of the cultural, physical and emotional contexts of the people you design for. This year we therefore opened our new Design office in Shanghai where we design through a ‘local for local’ approach. Receiving these nine awards including a Gold Award for the HD Camcorder CAM300 in China’s Most Succesful Design Awards competition confirms that Philips is on the right track of understanding the design needs and aspirations of China,” says Tammo de Ligny, Global Design Manager, Philips Consumer Lifestyle - Domestic Appliances.
