Innovation affordability of technology and patient empowerment take centre stage

Jakarta, Indonesia – Royal Philips Electronics this week committed to furthering the dialogue of access to life-saving technologies in Indonesia with a series of meetings designed to gain deep insights into how patients and clinicians experience healthcare delivery. The results will ensure Philips is making meaningful product and service innovations more affordable and accessible in the country to improve patient-care across the diverse archipelago.

The dialogue featuring key thought leaders across the healthcare landscape in Indonesia will be followed by Philips holdings its 3rd ASEAN Symposium on Healthcare matters in the region on 19-21 May 2010.

“Access to affordable healthcare technology is a pressing issue in Indonesia and Philips is committed to working with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to ensure we are supporting solutions that will be of most benefit to the community, “ said Robert Fletcher, CEO Philips Indonesia. “The meetings of this week have solidified a need for Philips to work even harder to make it easier for all Indonesians to have access to life-saving technologies.

Indonesia and the ASEAN region is an important focus for Philips Healthcare’s growth ambition in 2010 with the goal of accelerating access to affordable products that will help address the region’s healthcare delivery challenges. The variance in basic care across the country’s often very remote communities is an example of one of the major issues for accessibility in Indonesia.

As a Health and well-being company Philips is committed to developing new services and business models, including lower cost technology solutions and unique financial models- to help Indonesian care providers address their local healthcare challenges,” said Fletcher.

Philips has supplied MRI, CT scan and Cardiovascular systems, as well as the latest Patient Monitoring Systems, Ultrasound and HeartStart Defibrillator to renowned private and public hospitals in Indonesia:Harapan Kita National Cardiac Center, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Sc. Boromeus Hospital, Siloam Hospital Group, KKV Cinere Hospita, amongst other. Philips is also the market leader in cardiovascular, patient monitoring and echocardiography systems. This leadership position was attained through the establishment of long term partnerships with healthcare providers and hospital administrators.
