April 5, 2016

Frankfurt, Germany - Philips Lighting, a Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX, PHIA) company and global leader in lighting, unveils new additions to its Entertainment range of Platinum lamps and Showline luminaires at Prolight + Sound 2016. The lamps and luminaires will provide creative tools for lighting designers and are part of the immersive 'be inspired by light and create great experiences' stand concept being showcased at the exhibition. Visitors to the Philips stands will be able to meet Mark Wynn-Edwards, lighting designer for acts from Grace Jones to Jamiroquai, who has created a range of stunning natural scenes such as ‘Walking through the Woods’ featuring the newly-launched lamps and luminaires at the show.

Launched on stand today will be:

  • the Philips Showline SL HYDRUS 350 luminaire. The first Platinum lamp-based luminaire in the originally LED product line, the SL HYDRUS 350 is a super-bright, multi-featured moving light that is ideal for the live event and TV market because of its small size and speed. Featuring a wide zoom range in each mode, the SL HYDRUS 350 offers a vibrant color pallet. It incorporates all the tools a designer needs to create mid-air effects, clear and precise projection as well as seamless, blended animated washes.
  • the Philips MSD Platinum 11 R lamp – enables spot, beam and wash functions all in one fixture with a working distance of 38.74mm. This gives lighting designers more flexibility and freedom to create spectacular light shows.
  • the Philips MSR Gold 1510 SA/1 DE lamp. Ideal for theatrical performances, this lamp has an average lamp life of up to 750 hours and a lumen output of 142,000 lumen. Also, it has: exceptional color rendering with a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 95 for vivid colors

"Philips Lighting really understands what lighting designers need to recreate enigmatic natural lighting scenes. So we’ve come up with a visually engaging array of scenes such as ‘Thunder and Lightning’ and ‘Dawn ‘til Dusk’ which will be shown on stand to inspire fellow designers to create great experiences through a total lighting solution," said Mark Wynn-Edwards.

"The launch of the Philips SL HYDRUS 350 takes the Showline product line in an exciting new direction with a Platinum-based light that still offers the fantastic tourable qualities of the rest of the range - super versatility with high output yet compact and lightweight," said Martin Palmer, Philips Lighting Entertainment product segment manager.

The SL HYDRUS 350 will be joined by some of the latest Philips Showline products, including the SL PUNCHLITE 220, the SL STRIP 10IP, SL BAR 510 and the SL BEAM 300 FX.

The IP65 rated, decidedly flexible, high output SL PUNCHLITE 220 delivers a powerful, blended beam and features an impressive motorized zoom range of 8°-47°enabling designers to pinpoint performers with a narrow shaft of light or flood a wide area with a powerful color wash in any weather.

The SL STRIP 10IP - also rated for indoor and outdoor entertainment applications - delivers strong, blended washes of color.

The SL BEAM 300FX work as a beam, wash or effects luminaire with full color mixing and pixel mapping capabilities. Its dual rotating front lens and effects wheel offers designers a myriad of different looks.

Also on stand will be: a new addition to the refreshed Philips Selecon PLprofile series, the PLprofile4 MK II, offering boosted light output, superior color consistency and brilliant beam quality; the latest additions to the Philips Vari-Lite product line - the VL4000 Spot and VL4000 BeamWash; and the complete NEO Lighting Control system, with its new wings and 19-inch rack mounted playback unit.
