Global challenge

Global teamwork

Applying to Philips means giving yourself the opportunity to work in a dynamic, international, innovative environment. Philips is a truly global place to be. Each country and culture is different, and so are the challenges you will encounter there. Being based across the world, we can honestly say “the sun never sets.” For instance, we often work in virtual teams across different time zones, or combine our expertise by making use of different shift patterns. Our collaboration tools include web-based meeting software, mechanical CAD data sharing, e-mail, video and teleconferencing, as well as travel. Just one example is of teams in Healthcare in the US that work with teams in India, India then being the “second shift” of the day. Below are some descriptions of the activities and lifestyle of our teams across the world.

High Tech Campus, Eindhoven, the Netherlands

This impressive site is a technology cluster with a worldwide reputation that provides companies with advanced laboratories and technical infrastructure and an excellent working environment containing many thousands of top-notch engineers. With ‘Open Innovation’ as its motto, technological breakthrough is assisted by an emphasis on sharing equipment, services and knowledge. This means there are numerous opportunities for co-operation, joint ventures, creating valuable partnerships and turning ideas into business ventures.

Philips Innovation Centre (PIC), Bangalore, India

The PIC is part of the global Philips Innovative Innovation? Network, and contributes significantly to the Philips brand promise of “Sense & Simplicity.” Alexius Colette, the CEO, comments “We add value to our business partners through our innovations based on superior domain competence, creativity & well oiled processes. My enjoyment lies in supporting all PICians to be successful: from a graduate engineer to a seasoned expert.”

Flexible working helps staff all over the globe

We are currently investigating all sorts of working models and flexible, creative solutions such as staggering the working day, encouraging teleworking or making it possible to work from home. We aim to provide a sustainable balance that recognizes that people have a personal life as well as a job. This is appreciated by staff throughout the world, including the US-based Sajal Sahal, Global Director of Professional Marketing in Philips Oral Health Care, who says “I really appreciate that Philips understands and supports the idea of work-life balance. My direct superior is as family-oriented as I am — and always supports me in those moments when I need to shift focus a little more towards my family."
