    How LiFi works


    Our Trulifi systems modulate light waves to transmit data, mostly using invisible light. A USB access key plugged into a laptop or tablet receives data and sends data back to a transceiver. By leveraging lighting infrastructure, Trulifi customers get the best of both worlds: great quality Philips lighting and consistent, secure and low latency data connectivity.

     

    Trulifi can be retrofitted in existing luminaires or installed as a single system.

The Trulifi portfolio contains products with net data rates up to 845 Mbps. It acts like a wireless cable with a guaranteed net data rate.

    Trulifi uses AES 128-bit encryption. Information is accessed using a USB access key. An extra layer of security is built-in, as light waves can’t penetrate walls. This all helps to make Trulifi as secure as wired communication. Perfect for applications where security is paramount.

When working wirelessly, most VR applications run on connections with a higher latency than desired, causing cyber sickness.
