A digital proposition that could help to increase user’s self-awareness and develop new, healthier routines and habits. Taking Care of Yourself (TCY) uses data to create an ecosystem of intelligent physical and virtual personal health solutions. This design concept gives direction on three important topics: enabling personalized care, delivering holistic solutions and how to drive an open platform for co-creation. TCY attempts to bridge the gap between care in professional settings and the home. The system gathers qualitative and quantitative input from devices and other sources like sensors, as well as subjective user feedback, to build an accurate picture of people’s personal care needs. Based on this data, TCY triggers a personal program that supports users on their individual health care journey in the moments that matter most. The results of this project show how data potentially can reveal care needs beyond its original domain of use, and how we can react to these needs meaningfully.

Taking Care of Yourself is an enormous, multifaceted topic because it means so many different things for different people. Instead of breaking that challenge down to tackle the individual parts, we set out to design a more holistic solution. We found our way by continuously building prototypes and over time, we learned which combinations were meaningful to how we could grow this system.
Sander Bogers - Senior Data Designer
Everyone has a unique and personal journey in taking care of themselves - it’s our role to facilitate these unique care journeys to provide the right care at the right time.
As an experience lead, I enjoy envisioning this optimal experience by truly listening to our consumers. But also, by putting it into practice through conducting experiments that enable us to understand the barriers & requirements.
Nicole de Klein - Senior Experience Lead
When we design for truly personal solutions, it's not possible to only focus on one little piece of the challenge. You have to both appreciate all the details that matter for an individual, and take a holistic, systemic approach to make the solution work. That is what we did in Taking Care of Yourself. It makes me incredibly proud of the team who, from the beginning, embraced all elements and made it work - literally made it work.
