Philips is first Dutch company to reach top 15 in Global RepTrak reputation rankings

Estimated reading time: 1-3 minutes

The company has also been awarded best reputation in the Netherlands for the 14th year running

Philips is the first Dutch company to be ranked among the world’s top 15 in this year’s Global RepTrak list of companies with the best reputation. For the 14th year running, the company was also awarded the number-one spot in RepTrak’s rankings for the Netherlands. The RepTrak® model assesses how companies perform on emotional aspects (such as Appearance and Trust) and rational aspects of reputation (including Products & Services, Governance, and Citizenship). It then looks at how this translates into behavior, such as a willingness to buy products from the company, work for the company, or invest in the company.

The reason I am most proud is because we have been able to contribute a lot to combating the COVID-19 crisis in the past year. Our goal of improving the health and well-being of people around the world has never been more relevant.

CEO Royal Philips

"This does feel like a very special occasion this year. Not only because we are the first Dutch company ever to be ranked among RepTrak’s world’s top 15 list of most reputable companies," said Frans van Houten, CEO Royal Philips. "The reason I am most proud is because we have been able to contribute a lot to combating the COVID-19 crisis in the past year. Our goal of improving the health and well-being of people around the world has never been more relevant."

Some things we used to take for granted as a society, such as access to basic healthcare, are valued now more than ever.

"For us, the reputation score is not just a number. The fact that our reputation has risen once again is a recognition of the contribution we make to society through innovation in healthcare. This is a signal of confidence, which means a lot to me, but certainly also to our employees in the Netherlands and around the world, who have done their utmost to help our hospital partners in this pandemic."

During the pandemic, Philips increased its production of ventilators and patient monitoring equipment in a very short period of time. In collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Health and the Erasmus Medical Center (Rotterdam, the Netherlands), it launched an online portal for the exchange of relevant information about COVID-19 patients as they moved between hospitals, which within a few weeks was connected to by 95% of Dutch hospitals. And at the height of the crisis, when many countries closed their borders, KLM and Philips set up an airlift between the US, Europe and China to quickly transport medical equipment and other supplies to where they were needed.

“At a time when winning trust is not self-evident, we see that the reputation score of many large companies has increased. This is especially true of companies that have played an important role in fighting the corona crisis,” said Dr. Cees van Riel, Co-founder of The RepTrak Company.
