Based on nearly 20 hours of physician insights gathered globally, the Arterial IVUS Tutor app has been specifically developed to fulfill a significant need in vascular medicine: providing accessible and effective training for interpreting intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) images. This follows the established Venous IVUS Tutor, developed with the American Venous Forum (AVF), which is widely utilized international.
Although IVUS offers significant advancements for arterial procedures, interpreting its images presents notable challenges, and comprehensive educational resources are limited. Leading medical societies—including Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI), AVF, American Vein & Lymphatic Society (AVLS), Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM), and Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS)—have emphasized the importance of developing enhanced educational tools to encourage broader IVUS adoption and address difficulties in image interpretation¹. Recent studies confirm these existing gaps, underscoring the pressing need for innovative solutions that support clinicians throughout their IVUS learning and practice.
