    How to get started

Send an email to creative.playground@philips.com. We will provide you with the required information to connect your app to the Connect to Healthy platform and access the data you require.

Your team will receive 4 accounts on our platform:

    • One for each persona (see challenges and personas for details on each persona and the specific data available for each)
    • You also get a special extra account so you can connect personal health devices like FitBit and Jawbone (see connecting devices for more details).
    • Select the persona whose data you would like to use in your app. The sample code shows how to make the connection using REST and how to retrieve data using the FHIR API observations method.
    • Observations are a central element in healthcare, and are used to support diagnosis, monitor progress, determine baselines and patterns and even capture demographic characteristics. Most observations are simple name/value pair assertions with some metadata, but others are grouped together logically, or can even be multi-component observations. See the chapter on data for more details.

Philips would like to acknowledge the Health Level 7 (HL7) organization for this content. Further in-depth discussion of the FHIR Observation resource can be found at here.

    Connecting Health Trackers
Login to Connect to Healthy using your team’s special device account.
Be sure that you have synced your devices with their respective apps and that your apps are online so that the most recent data is available in the Connect to Healthy platform. The trackers that you select from each device or app will be added to each of your persona accounts.
If the persona already has this data, it will be overwritten by your tracker data. The personal data covers all of 2014. The amount of tracker data depends on how long you have been using the device or app, but a maximum of 1 year will be retrieved from your account. New tracker data will be added from the current date onwards.

    What is Connect to Healthy?

Connect to Healthy is the special environment we created for the Connected Life Hackathon. Connect to Healthy is using a stand-alone, separate instance (sandbox environment) that is constructed from prototypes of but not associated with the actual Philips Health Suite digital platform databases (and as such, data would not be shared from the DOH experience into HSDP databases).

        What is FHIR API?

FHIR, also known as RESTful FHIR, stands for Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources. It is designed to describe date formats or ‘resources’ and allows for easy exchanges of electronic health records. Want to learn more about FHIR API? Check out our dedicated FHIR API page. You can also find out more at FHIR API.

        What is REST?

Representational State Transfer (REST) is an easy way to manage interactions between two systems that are independent of each other. Follow this link to learn more about REST standards.
