Jürgen is a physicist and is with Philips Research since 1994. He has been working in the area of medical imaging, computer assisted diagnosis and image guided therapy, and made numerous important contributions. In particular, he introduced a software technology for the automatic generation of personalized heart and organ models from medical images that is a key component of an increasing number of innovative products. Next to several Philips-internal projects, he coordinates the EC-funded integrated project “euHeart” and the Philips contribution to the “NRW heart valve initiative” that was awarded with the Medica Excellence Award in 2011. With his application-focused approach and contributions, he strongly influences the future development of cardio-vascular imaging solutions for diagnosis and therapy. He is (co-)author of more than 120 articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings. His inventions resulted in over 30 granted US patents and 25 US patent applications. Jürgen received numerous awards for important product transfers. In 2006, he received the Eduard Pannenborg Award for his outstanding research contributions.
