Take control of the air you breathe indoors with Philips Air

Berlin, Germany – At this year’s Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin, Germany, Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) showcases new products and services that empower consumers to take an active role in managing their health and well-being to get the most out of life.

We spend a large proportion of our time indoors every day, and studies show that the air we breathe indoors can be up to 2 to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air1. The allergens, bacteria and viruses that are present in the air we breathe at home can lead to health issues, with as many as 1 in 3 of us expected to suffer from allergies and asthma during our lifetime2. Helping to make the home environment cleaner, the Philips Air portfolio of products have been specifically developed to give you peace of mind on the quality of the air your family is breathing.

“At Philips our aim is to help everyone improve the quality of the air they breathe indoors by reducing many of the irritants and allergens that can trigger health problems, including allergies and asthma. Our portfolio of Air Purifiers and Humidifiers enable you and your family to breathe cleaner more comfortable air, giving you one less thing to worry about so you can simply relax and enjoy spending time together in your home,” said Sjoerd Drost, Business Leader Air, Domestic Appliances.

Philips Air Purifier Series 2000i

Simple, everyday activities like vacuuming, making the bed in the morning and patting down cushions can cause dust and allergens to rise up and move around the home. The Philips Air Purifier Series 2000i removes 99.97% of airborne allergens including pollen, house dust mites and pet dander, and to help decrease the impact of these moments, it includes AeraSense, a particle sensor that detects even a slight change in the air and ensures the purifier’s settings are adjusted to reduce airborne allergens. It also gives real time feedback thanks to its Indoor Allergen Index, which on a scale of 1 – 12 indicates how high or low the allergen risk is in the home.

To support allergy sufferers further, the Philips Air Purifier Series 2000i has a special auto-setting called Allergen Mode. Using a unique algorithm, this always-alert programme detects and reacts to potential allergen risks by boosting the purifier’s airflow – immediately reducing exposure to allergens. This purifier, designed with a multi-stage active filtration system captures up to 99.97% of particles, even those as small as 0.3 microns – the size of common airborne allergens, particles, bacteria and viruses.

Philips Air Matters App

With 20% of the world’s population suffering from allergic diseases such as asthma and allergic rhinitis3 providing a solution for allergy sufferers is vital, as many are seeking relief from their symptoms. Now, Philips has collaborated with Air Matters for an app – that can be used with the Philips Air Purifier Series 2000i – which can manage and reduce exposure to the irritants and allergens that trigger their symptoms. This way users find peace of mind in knowing they are breathing cleaner indoor air at home. Monitoring in real time, the app – which can be used around the world – shows what the current outdoor allergen levels are. It measures pollutants and different kinds of pollen; and it has historical tracking data to help users correlate their symptoms with peaks in allergen levels. The app allows users to regulate the settings and the speed of their air purifier, and to receive information on the filter status.

Philips Air Purifier Series 3000

Combining AeraSense and VitaShield IPS technologies, the Philips Air Purifier series 3000 allows you to accurately monitor and improve the quality of your indoor air. VitaShield IPS technology uses natural filtration to collect and retain many contaminants, leaving indoor air cleaner. Additionally, it can kill up to 99.97% of most common airborne allergens, and 99.9%4 of viruses (H1N1) and bacteria that pass through the purifier – so you know that you and your family are breathing purer air.

The Air Purifier series 3000 also comes with two modes – a sleep mode to keep noise levels to a minimum while you rest, and a specially designed Allergen mode5. When selected, this mode efficiently removes common airborne allergens so that those who suffer from allergies have the protection they need.

Philips Humidifier Series 2000

Empowering you to easily manage moisture levels and the quality of your indoor air, the Philips Humidifier Series 2000 helps you to retain comfortable moisture levels in your home by maintaining a constant and even, relative humidity between 40 and 60%6. NanoCloud Technology creates cleaner air in the home by spreading 99%7 less bacteria compared to ultrasonic humidifiers8. This unique humidification technology uses a natural, cold evaporation process with no artificial additives. It humidifies your home by generating tiny molecules of pure water that are invisible to the eye, and evenly distributes them around the room. Additionally, unlike ultrasonic humidification technology, the invisible mist of water produced by this technology leaves no white dust or wet patches in your room, which is cleaner and hygienically safe for your home.

The Humidifier series 2000 features a Quiet sleep mode, which runs the device at a low noise level, with lights switched off so that you can maintain your desired humidity level even when you are sleeping.
