Get a beach ready beard this summer

Holiday beard

Summer is upon us (well it is if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, which – let’s face it – is the best hemisphere), so it’s time to put those woolly sweaters back in the cupboard and put on some flip-flops, shorts and that Hawaiian shirt you’re too embarrassed to wear for the rest of the year.

The best thing about summer is that it means one thing – holiday time! For us men that means that we can let our hair down for a few weeks and even cultivate cool facial hair if we want to without the risk of our bosses/girlfriends getting mad at us.

The holiday beard is now a firm fixture in many men’s summer routine, but why do so many men choose to grow beards, is it summertime laziness or a deliberate expression of freedom? Well it’s probably a bit of both, there’s nothing more cool than going camping out in the country and growing a cool Grizzly Adams-style full beard or long stubble to blend in with the scenery. But then there’s also nothing nicer than waking up on the first Monday morning of a holiday and not having to face the usual grooming routine.

So the question is if you’re growing a holiday beard what should you do with it? The most obvious answer is to just let it grow out for a while and see where it goes. After all, how are you going to find out what style suits you without growing it first (well apart from using our awesome ‘Style Yourself’ app)?

To get the perfect holiday beard all you need to do is follow these simple steps:

1. Leave your facial hair to grow for at least 7-9 days first, see what length it reaches.

2. If the borders of your facial hair are becoming too straggly then trim them with a beard styling tool, the Philips Multigroom is perfect for this.

3. Keep letting it your facial hair grow until: you have to go back to work, your girlfriend threatens to dump you or you start looking like a hobo.

Are you planning on a growing a holiday beard this year? When you grow your holiday beard do you do it for fun or because you just don’t want to shave?
