Privacy Notice Health Band

The Philips Health band (Health band) and its related mobile application (App) measures and tracks movement and physiological parameters of the wearer including energy expenditure, respiration, heart, and activity rates to provide insight for research purposes. This Privacy Notice applies to personal data processed by the Health band and its related App, by Respironics, Inc. and its affiliates (”Philips”, “our”, “we” or “us”), the data processor; therefore processing your personal data only on behalf of and under the instructions of the data controller, the Research Sponsor. The Research Sponsor is responsible for the processing of your personal data, including obtaining your consent for the specific research initiative of which you are a participant. In this notice, we will briefly describe what types of data are processed per the direction of the Research Sponsor within the Health band and App. If you have any questions related to how the Research Sponsor requires us to process your data for the purposes of this research initiative, you should inquire with them directly.
Data Processed on behalf of the Research Sponsor
When you wear the Health band and install and access the App to participate in research initiatives, we will process your personal data as specified below and in general to perform the services requested by the Research Sponsor.
Account Data Under the Research Sponsors supervision, the study coordinator who provides you with the Health band, will provide you a study ID that you will use along with your birth date to permit you to set a User ID and Password to access the App. The personal data collected is used to verify you as a research participant and to establish and verify your App account.
Personal and Device Data Before the App collects your sensitive personal data we will inform you and ask your consent. The data collected from the Health band includes the unique device number, session and usage data, your heart rate, step count, activity duration, energy expenditure, respiration rate and sleep duration.
The study coordinator may provide additional data inputs into the App based on the research study which can include your name, gender, primary language, time zone, height, weight, dominant hand, or wrist that you will wear the device on. This data collected is used by the Research Sponsor to conduct the research study. The research consent provided to you will describe any other purposes for the collection of the data.
