Privacy at Philips

At Philips we have a longstanding commitment to privacy and data protection.

The processing of personal data is essential to achieving Philips’ strategic ambition of making the world healthier and more sustainable through innovation. Just as being able to process personal data is necessary to realize Philips’ strategy, protecting personal data and safeguarding privacy is equally crucial to our mission.

This page gives you an overview of the Philips approach to privacy and data protection and how we comply with applicable privacy and data protection law(s), such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our approach to privacy and data protection

Our approach to privacy and data protection is guided by the following principles:

  • Privacy in our Products and Services: We integrate privacy and data protection into the design, development and delivery of our products, services, and solutions.
  • Compliance: We align our practices with applicable privacy and data protection laws to ensure personal data is processed lawfully, fairly and transparently.

To uphold these principles, we maintain a robust privacy compliance framework. This Framework is designed to efficiently guide, monitor and demonstrate compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.

Our Privacy framework

At Philips, we acknowledge that privacy and data protection are fundamental human rights to empower individuals to keep control over their personal data. We are committed to embedding privacy and data protection into the core of our operating model and company culture.

To that end, we have implemented a comprehensive privacy compliance framework, designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to applicable data protection laws.

Our Framework includes:

  • Privacy by Design and by Default: We integrate privacy and data protection principles into the design and development of our products and services.

  • Demonstrable Accountability: We maintain up-to-date records of our data processing activities to demonstrate our compliance obligations.

  • Transparent Communication: We provide clear and accessible Privacy Notices that explain in plain language how and why we collect, use, and share personal data.

  • Employee Training and Awareness: We equip our workforce with the knowledge needed to uphold privacy and data protection standards in their daily activities.

By embedding privacy in everything we do, we build trust, ensure transparency, and manage personal data with care.

Our Binding Corporate Rules

At Philips we have a longstanding commitment to respect the privacy of our consumers, customers and other individuals we deal with, such as patients. To live up to this commitment, we have adopted and implemented a set of Binding Corporate Rules (known as Philips Privacy Rules) which provide appropriate safeguards for transferring personal data within the Philips group in line with applicable data protection laws, such as GDPR.

We are proud to be among the first companies in Europe to have our Binding Corporate Rules approved by the relevant European data protection authorities.

Our Philips Privacy Notice

We want to be transparent about the personal data we collect, the reasons we collect it, and how we use it. To this end, we have developed a set of comprehensive and easy-to-navigate Privacy Notices, written in clear and plain language. These Notices explain when and how we process personal data and provide practical guidance on how individuals can exercise their privacy rights or contact the relevant Philips Data Protection Officer.

Our Privacy contact form

Individuals have certain rights in relation to their personal data — for example, the right to access a copy of their data, to request correction, or to ask for deletion. To support individuals in effectively exercising these rights, submitting a privacy-related question or complaint, or contacting the appropriate Philips Data Protection Officer, we have created a dedicated Privacy Contact Form.
