Philips' approach towards privacy

At Philips we have a longstanding commitment to respect the privacy of our consumers, customers and other individuals we deal with, such as patients. Being transparent about how we deal with personal data helps to build trust. As we transform into a digital company, complying with our privacy standards is increasingly important to achieve that commitment.

On this website you can find the necessary information, and how you can exercise your rights as a consumer, patient, employee of our business customers, or other individual dealing with Philips.

Philips Privacy Rules

To create a global approach on the protection of privacy and to allow internal data transfers between Philips companies worldwide, Philips has adopted a set of Binding Corporate Rules called The Philips Privacy Rules.

The Philips Privacy Rules aim to address the vast number of international data protection requirements by formulating an overarching approach to guide the company.

Why we process your data

At Philips we aim to collect personal data only for certain legitimate business purposes. This includes facilitating and improving your experience in the purchase and use of products. We also aim to facilitate meaningful social interaction with you, by enabling you to create a dialog with us, through social media and other means, about your experience of Philips products and services.

In some cases, where you interact with Philips, use our services, or purchase Philips products, we use your data in order to let you know about products and services we think you might like, in such cases we make sure that you have either been informed or have consented to this in advance.

Your rights

Under the Philips Privacy Rules and many local privacy laws, you have the right to request access to your personal data. When your personal data are incorrect, incomplete or not processed in compliance with applicable law or the Philips Privacy Rules, you have the right to have this data rectified, deleted or blocked.

Philips as a Processor of Personal data

Part of the Philips Privacy Rules relate to the protection of personal data that Philips only processes on behalf of another party, and where there is no direct relationship between Philips and the individual. This mostly occurs where Philips processes patient data on behalf of a hospital that uses Philips medical devices.

You can find these specific Philips Privacy Rules (the so-called Processor Rules) and the list of sub-processers that Philips uses below.

Philips Data Principles

Privacy is one of three Philips Data Principles that guide the safe and responsible use of personal data for the benefit of people and society at large.
