Where technology and human needs intersect – that is where we find meaningful innovation. It means a focus on health and well-being innovations that are more intuitive, more effective, more affordable and accessible.
Green Innovation is the Research & Development spend related to the development of new generations of Green Products and Green Technologies. In 2010 we announced plans to invest a cumulative EUR 2 billion in Green Innovation during the coming 5 years. Philips invested EUR 509 million in Green Innovation in 2013, with the strongest contribution from Lighting.
Our Green Innovations means meeting people’s needs through technology means re-imagining livable cities with smarter, more energy-efficient lighting, and developing new approaches to healthcare that promote wellness rather than simply treat illness. Our investments on green innovations are spread over projects focused on global challenges related to water, air, waste, energy as well as materials. We are closing the materials loop as well as transitioning to a circular economy.
