Performance- and access-based models allow our customers to access products as a service. Our Lumify with Reacts portable ultrasound service is a good example. Under this flexible subscription service, users can have access to transducers, an app and online ecosystem. The subscription service reduces upfront costs and improves patient access to innovative care. Another example is our Lumea Select Try & Buy model. Philips retains ownership of the Lumea Prestige IPL hair removal product throughout its lifespan. After use, it is returned to be processed for further use.
Philips is committed to closing the loop by offering responsible take-back on all professional medical equipment sold directly to customers, as part of a trade-in offer or as a service at customer request. We ensure that equipment coming back to us is, where feasible, made available for refurbishment. If refurbishment is not feasible, we ensure responsible end-of-use management, to prevent waste going to landfill. By recovering valuable parts, we can service older systems, maximizing lifetime value again. If that is no longer an option, we recycle back to raw materials locally via our certified global recycling networks.
Our Philips Circular Edition portfolio allows customers to benefit from refurbished and quality-tested technology at lower cost, offering a sustainable solution that is as good as new.
We also offer refurbished consumer products, such as the refurbished Shaver series 5000. These products are pre-owned, or returned to us unused, and restored to give them a second life.
On-site or remote upgrades make it possible to enhance existing Philips systems to current technology or increased capacities. For example, with SmartPath upgrades, you get the most advanced enhancements in workflow, dose management, clinical capabilities and imaging quality with equipment you already own.
Servicing is increasingly carried out remotely and uses AI to support predictive maintenance. Both help prolong lifetime, increase utilization, and reduce environmental impact.
Recycled materials have become an integral part of product design of our consumer products. And by co-creating with recycled materials organizations, we can use our expertise to further improve the quality of materials.
We offer software solutions that help our customers optimize their resource use, and many of our software solutions reduce the need for (dedicated) hardware. For instance, our Lumify with Reacts portable ultrasound connects directly to handheld devices, thus reducing the need for a separate patient monitor.
