"Gerard Philips was an inspiring and great innovator"

After a long wait, there will finally be a statue for Gerard Philips, the founder of Philips – a gift from Philips to the city of Eindhoven in honor of the company's 130th anniversary. CEO Frans van Houten visited artist Andreas Hetfeld at his workshop in Millingen aan de Rijn where he is working on the 7-meter high statue.

Frans van Houten: "Gerard was an inspiring and great innovator who absolutely deserves public recognition!". Andreas Hetfeld describes the artwork as a "monument to humanity and innovation". The sculpture will be unveiled in Eindhoven on Monday 15th May, the company's birthday, next year.
