Caring for preterm babies is challenging. Fragmented data from different systems prevent clinicians from easily seeing a full patient overview. Complex clinical jargon and processes can create a barrier for families to understand and participate in the care of their baby. And premature babies are obviously fragile and need the right environment and care delivery to grow, thrive and bond with their family.
LOTUS is a conceptual exploration of a next-generation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Featuring a next-generation clinical informatics platform, LOTUS monitors and collects information across all devices and systems into one easy to use interface. This provides a holistic view of the baby’s status, helping clinicians make critical decisions and coordinate care between teams.
The concept is coupled with an adaptive healing environment that can transform from supporting the baby’s development, to providing a soothing and calming environment for families, as well as addressing workflow and care delivery needs of clinicians.
