A solution for managing milk production that puts the mother’s experience at the center of the design process.
Whether mothers run an errand, take a short trip or head back to work full-time, they need a good breast pump to help them when breastfeeding isn’t an option. For many mothers, using a breast pump to manage milk production is essential – the body still needs to make milk, even when away from the baby. A breast pump helps to build up a supply of breast milk so others can feed the baby. Most mothers do not enjoy expressing milk with a breast pump, so designing a ‘woman first’ experience was vital in truly making an impact for our end-user. The main challenge was to design a pump that was discreet and met a modern working mum’s needs, helping her maintain breast milk when she returns to work. The resulting design focused on an enhanced pumping experience for mothers and considered portability – even allowing mobility so the mother can ‘wear’ the device when pumping.
