Philips receives the Red Dot Design Award: ‘Best of the Best’ as a brand

Estimated reading time: 2-4 minutes

Guided by its vision of making the world healthier and more sustainable through innovation, Philips is driving the digital health revolution and unlocking the value of seamless care. The company’s strong portfolio of innovations for personal health and professional care and its ambition to improve the lives of 3 billion people by 2030 continues to resonate with its stakeholders, driving the strength of the Philips brand.

This was recently highlighted by the expert judges of the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards: Brands & Communication Design 2019, who recognized the Philips brand with a ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ design award for the Medical and Healthcare sector. With more than 8,500 entries, the Red Dot Awards for Brands & Communication Design are part of one of the world’s largest design competitions. This year less than one percent of all entries received the sought-after ‘Best of the Best’ distinction, which represents the highest standards of quality and design leadership.

“The Philips brand represents more than 125 years of innovation, and this award shows that when every employee gets behind one brand, mission and vision we can dramatically increase the positive impact we have in the world,” said Sean Carney, Chief Design Officer & Head of Healthcare Transformation Services at Philips. “Our brand encapsulates the power of Philips innovation to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives. We do that by seeking to achieve the ‘quadruple aim’ of value-based healthcare: improving the patient experience, bettering health outcomes, improving the staff experience and lowering the cost of care.”

Philips also received two other Red Dot Brands & Communication Design awards. The Philips NutriU app acts as a personal nutrition coach, offering personalized advice and hundreds of nutritionally balanced recipes. The Philips SleepMapper app combines with Philips’ SmartSleep portfolio of consumer sleep solutions such as Philips’ SmartSleep wearable sleep headband, which is clinically proven to improve the quality of your sleep. The app tracks sleep patterns over time, measures key metrics and shows the slow wave boost the users gets from SmartSleep each night.
