Responsible sourcing of minerals policy and due diligence

Philips is committed to responsible sourcing of minerals and conducts risk based due diligence to help prevent contributing to serious human rights abuses, unlawful practices or other significant adverse impacts associated with mineral extraction, transport, and trade.

Environmental impact

This commitment is set out in Philips’ Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy, which extends our Human Rights Policy, General Business Principles, Procurement Code of Ethics, and Supplier Sustainability Declaration into our upstream supply chain. The policy is informed by the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas.

Philips’ due diligence program applies to tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold (3TG), and cobalt in products and materials supplied to Philips. As a downstream company, Philips does not directly source minerals but seeks to influence responsible sourcing practices through supplier engagement, industry collaboration, and recognized assurance mechanisms (Responsible Minerals Assurance Program).

Philips reports annually on its conflict minerals due diligence program in line with applicable regulatory requirements, including its Conflict Minerals Report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Beyond due diligence – multi‐stakeholder initiatives and on-the-ground projects

From our position in the supply chain as a downstream company, we believe that a multi-stakeholder collaboration in the responsible sourcing of minerals is the most viable approach for addressing the complexities of minerals value chains.
