Philips redefines cardiac care with AI-driven solutions at ESC Congress 2025

From next-gen ultrasound systems to intervention and intelligent automation, Philips showcases breakthrough cardiology solutions accelerating diagnosis, treatment, and long-term monitoring to advance cardiovascular care

Aug 28, 2025 | 3 minute read

Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, will showcase its latest AI-enabled technologies designed to optimize clinical workflows and provide deeper insights in cardiac care at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2025 Congress in Madrid (August 29 – September 1). The company will demonstrate how integrated workflows and intelligent technologies support confident diagnoses, precise treatment, and proactive monitoring, delivering better cardiac care to more people. Philips will also reaffirm the company’s commitment to providing sustainable healthcare practices and innovation to help reduce healthcare's carbon footprint.

Philips EPIQ CVx in use

The latest Philips Future Health Index (FHI) 2025 cardiology snapshot findings show that 79% of cardiac care providers have lost valuable clinical time with patients due to incomplete or inaccessible patient data, resulting in 45 minutes of clinical time lost per shift, or more than 4 working weeks lost per year. In an era where cardiology departments face mounting clinical and operational pressures, Philips’ AI-enabled solutions provide integrated workflows and insights at every point in the cardiac care pathway to help increase productivity and time for patients.

At ESC 2025, we’ll highlight that the future of cardiac care is smaller, smarter, and more connected, with AI doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes to help clinicians focus more on patients, not processes.

- Jeff Cohen, Business Leader of Ultrasound at Philips

“Together with our customers, we’re showcasing how Philips’ AI-enabled technologies are not just advancing image quality and enhancing workflow efficiency—they’re improving access to insights that matter, speeding up diagnosis, and empowering clinicians to make faster, more confident decisions,” said Jeff Cohen, Business Leader of Ultrasound at Philips. “At ESC 2025, we’ll highlight that the future of cardiac care is smaller, smarter, and more connected, with AI doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes to help clinicians focus more on patients, not processes. Attendees will experience how our unified vision of cardiac care supports smarter decision-making, spanning early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and long-term monitoring.”

Diagnosis: earlier detection with greater clarity and confidence

Philips is advancing precision diagnosis through high-quality imaging and intelligent analytics driving workflow efficiency to enable faster, more accurate detection of cardiac conditions. Flagship solutions at ESC include Philips ultrasound cardiac systems EPIQ CVx, Affiniti CVx, and Compact 5500 CV—AI-powered platforms with new enhanced image quality. These systems are complemented by Cardiovascular Workspace, a scalable platform that integrates imaging data across systems to enhance collaboration and workflow efficiency. In CT, Philips’ CT 5300 and Spectral CT 7500 systems deliver next-generation imaging powered by software enhancements and AI for deeper clinical insights. Also featured is BlueSeal Mobile—the industry’s first helium-free, AI-enabled MRI system—performing live cardiac MR scans onsite for the first time, providing access to more sustainable, high-quality imaging.

Treatment: smarter interventions guided by real-time insight

Philips’ integrated image-guided therapy portfolio enables clinicians to plan and perform cardiac interventions with greater precision. The spotlight at ESC will be on the VeriSight Pro 3D Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) Catheter, offering real-time 2D and 3D intracardiac imaging for enhanced visualization in electrophysiology and structural heart procedures. Philips will also demonstrate the Azurion 7 Series, showcasing how an intuitive, AI-enabled design can streamline complex procedures and support more personalized, efficient care delivery.

Monitoring: scalable solutions for cardiac care

For heart care everywhere, Philips offers ambulatory monitoring solutions to support proactive and personalized long-term cardiac management. Featured at ESC 2025 will be Philips’ advanced Holter Monitoring Software, which supports ECG analysis and reporting, helping clinicians manage arrhythmia and other cardiac conditions. These innovations help empower care teams to deliver continual follow-up and timely intervention, with the goal of improving outcomes while easing clinical workloads.

Symposium spotlight and hands-on sessions at ESC: connecting the dots for smarter heart failure care

Beyond experiencing advanced technology, ESC attendees can also participate in hands-on tutorials hosted by Philips and led by clinical experts and attend multiple symposium sessions focused on AI applications in cardiology and image-guided structural heart interventions, exploring new pathways in cardiac imaging.  During a symposium spotlight hosted by Philips and co-moderated by world-renowned experts Prof. Pepe Zamorano and Prof. Ricardo Fontes Carvahlo, leading cardiologists will also discuss the convergence of artificial intelligence and miniaturized imaging in echocardiography, transforming the way clinicians assess, treat, and monitor heart failure and structural heart disease.

“AI offers clear, immense potential across multiple stages of clinical practice. In enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, I see huge value in AI for image analysis – particularly in interpreting complex cardiovascular imaging and identifying abnormalities that the human eye might otherwise miss. AI will also enable faster data processing, and reduce administrative burdens on clinicians, allowing us to dedicate more time to patient care,” said Jose Zamorano Chief of Cardiology at the University Hospital Ramón y Cajal in Madrid.

The 2025 ESC Congress theme of "Cardiology Beyond Borders" and "Global Health" aligns with Philips' goal of improving lives by 2 billion by 2025, with a focus on improving access to care in underserved communities. For more information, visit Philips at ESC 2025.
