Yesterday, Philips Lighting’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders approved the company’s name change from Philips Lighting to Signify. Signify (Euronext: LIGHT) will continue to use the Philips brand for its products under the existing licensing agreement with Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology. Signify expects the name change to be implemented in all the countries in which it operates by the beginning of 2019.
We congratulate Signify for this important step in their successful transformation journey. And of course, we are proud that the trusted Philips brand will remain the constant factor on all their lighting products.

“We congratulate Signify for this important step in their successful transformation journey,” said Frans van Houten, CEO of Royal Philips. “And of course, we are proud that the trusted Philips brand will remain the constant factor on all their lighting products.” Following Philips’ strategic decision to create two fit for purpose companies, Philips Lighting was listed as a separate company on the Euronext Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 2016. The company is the world leader in lighting with innovations that serve professional and consumer markets. Headquartered in the Netherlands, Signify has operations in more than 70 countries, employs 32,000 people worldwide, and generated sales of EUR 7 billion in 2017.
