Philips has published a new peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, giving fresh insights into how digital lifestyle interventions combined with care-as-usual and non-digital elements, can help support healthy gestational weight gain (GWG) during pregnancy.

The scoping review, Digital Lifestyle Interventions to Support Healthy Gestational Weight Gain, analyzes the design, content, and behavior-change strategies (BCTs) programs aimed at promoting healthier pregnancy outcomes, including mobile and web-based elements.
Healthy GWG plays a key role in both maternal and infant health. Excessive weight gain during pregnancy is linked to increased risks such as gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, and complications during birth. The review highlights how digital tools may offer scalable and accessible support for women throughout their pregnancy journey.
In reviewing the existing evidence, the review helps inform the next generation of digital health tools, contributing to healthier pregnancies and long-term well-being.
“We know that digital health is reshaping how people access care and offers new ways to improve health outcomes at different life stages. The Philips Avent Pregnancy+ app is a leading example of how we can empower pregnant women and families with personalized health guidance. In reviewing the existing evidence, the review helps inform the next generation of digital health tools, contributing to healthier pregnancies and long-term well-being” explains Lucie Duracher, Maternal and Infant Health Science Lead, Mother and Child Care at Philips.
