Jean Botti, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, joined Philips in April 2016. Prior to this he was Chief Technical Officer of Airbus Group, a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services.
Jean has a track record in driving innovation and change in highly regulated high-tech industries. He began his professional career at Renault in 1978 and then worked in various roles in Europe and the US with General Motors and Delphi. He joined Airbus in 2006, where he led the innovation behind the company’s market successes.
Jean is as a senator of acatech, the German Academy of Science and Engineering, advising the institution on strategic matters. He is also a member of the National Academy of Technologies of France, where he provides important insights into new technologies. He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a member of the French National Air and Space Academy and a member of the Federation of German Industries’ (BDI) Technical Committee.
Jean holds 31 patents and four defensive publications for work carried out over the course of his career. He is a recipient of both the French National Order of the Legion of Honor and the French Medal of Aeronautics.
He has a degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) and a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in collaboration with the University of Michigan. In addition, he has an MBA from Central Michigan University and a degree in Research and Development Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Jean has been awarded honorary degrees from Bath University (UK), Cardiff University (UK) and the University of South Alabama (USA).
