In this role, she leads Philips’ Innovation & Design and IT organizations, bringing together science, technology, data, design and digital capabilities to accelerate meaningful innovation. Working closely with Philips’ businesses, she helps turn emerging technologies into differentiated products, services and ways of working that improve patient and customer outcomes.

She brings extensive experience in science, technology, digitalization and business leadership across the healthcare, life sciences and electronics sectors. Before joining Philips, she was Chief Science and Technology Officer at Merck KGaA, where she led innovation and digitalization across its businesses. As Executive Vice President, she also oversaw corporate innovation and digital teams, including the development of new business models. She was also CEO of Athinia®, a data-sharing platform enabling secure data sharing across the semiconductor ecosystem.
Earlier, Laura was Senior Vice President at EMD Electronics, formerly Versum Materials and Air Products Electronics, where she contributed to the growth of semiconductor materials businesses. She began her career at Texas Instruments as a process engineer, working in process engineering, integration and Ferroelectric RAM.
With a patient- and customer-centric approach, Laura is committed to applying technology and innovation to improve people’s lives. Laura is married with two children and enjoys travelling, running and spending time with her family. She holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
