Willem Appelo
Wim Appelo, Executive Vice President, joined Philips in July 2022 as Chief Operations Officer, after having worked as interim Chief Supply Chain Officer and for private equity firms in the medical technology industry for the year prior.
Before this, he held several roles at Johnson & Johnson of which his most recent was Vice President Supply Chain Strategy, Innovation & Deployment. At Johnson & Johnson he accelerated the transformation of their Supply Chain organization to become a strategic advantage for the company by driving innovation of service models and customer experiences and accelerating the adoption and deployment of an end-to-end digital ecosystem. He spearheaded the identification of key growth measures that helped the company continue to strengthen its operations, while ultimately delivering services and experiences that transcend expectations and deliver top-line growth because they added value to its customers’ operations as well. Prior to this he was the Global Supply Chain leader for the Medical Devices Business, where he drove closer alignment with regional commercial organizations and championed customer-focused business models, including: establishing 3D-printing capabilities, leading the formation of a strategic collaboration with a third-party supplier and new business service offering.

Before joining Johnson & Johnson, he held various senior positions at Xerox Corporation, ultimately as President, Global Delivery and Technology Group, where he was responsible for Xerox’s end-to-end Technology Business including R&D, Innovation, Services and Supplies business as well as the Global Integrated Supply Chain organization.
Wim was born in the Netherlands and after having lived in the US for over 20 years returned to the Netherlands with his spouse while their two children reside in the US. Wim has served on the boards of Rochester Institute of Technology and of the University of Rochester Medical Center, enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
