Marnix became a member of the Executive Committee in 2014 and he was appointed a member of Philips’ Board of Management in 2017. He is responsible for driving Environmental, Social and Governance efforts across the company, including sustainability. Marnix is also responsible for Legal, Intellectual Property & Standards, Government & Public Affairs and Communications & Brand. He became Chair of the Board of the Philips Foundation in 2024. He has also been a Professor of International Corporate Governance at the Erasmus School of Law in Rotterdam since 2011. In 2025, Marnix was appointed to the Dutch Monitoring Committee Corporate Governance Code by the Minister of Economic Affairs.

Marnix joined Philips in 2007 and became General Counsel Corporate and Head of Group Legal in 2010. In this role he was responsible for several Group Legal departments, including Corporate & Financial Law, Legal Compliance and Legal M&A. Before joining Philips, Marnix worked for Akzo Nobel, and prior to that he was an attorney in a private practice.
Marnix is a board member of the Association of the Grotius Academy Foundation (Stichting Grotius Academie).
Marnix studied law at the University of Utrecht and at Wayne State University in Detroit. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam.
